Hello from Oklahoma! Hope your summer is going well. Are you looking forward to the fall as much as I am? August is my least favorite month of the entire year, but this year I have something fun to look forward to—the release of my new suspense novel, MISERY LOVES COMPANY! It officially releases August 1, 2013! I’m tremendously excited to get it into your hands. If you have a chance, drop me a note and let me know how you liked it. And as always, I appreciate reader reviews on retail sites, blogs and Facebook pages, if you have the time.
The other reason I’m so excited about the fall (other than the great temperatures!) is that I have two more books coming for you all! HEART OF THE COUNTRY, a prodigal daughter story, will release in paperback along with the movie, which is being released by Fox and stars Jana Kramer and Gerald McRaney. The book cover, which is also the movie poster, is absolutely gorgeous, and I’m so proud of this novelization that I wrote with director John Ward. If you didn’t catch the novel when it was released last year as an e-book, you can now grab it in paperback form! And I hope you’ll also take the time to watch the movie. I was on set and was so impressed with John and all the actors and crew. And here’s a fun story: I was chatting with one of the stars, Randy Wayne, and it turns out we’re both from Moore, Oklahoma! Small world, to be all the way in North Carolina, meeting someone who lives just a few miles away.
I’m also excited to bring you another Rene Gutteridge/Cheryl McKay comedy, GREETINGS FROM THE FLIPSIDE. For those of you who loved NEVER THE BRIDE, I think you’ll really enjoy this romantic comedy with a unique spin, based on Cheryl’s screenplay. Cheryl and I can hardly wait until its October release to introduce you to our heroine, Hope Landon, a greeting card writer who is hoping to make it big in New York City with her future husband, only to be dumped at the altar. This causes a series of difficult events to unfold that only gets worse as the book goes on. And you know how we have a lot of fun with that sort of thing…! More on that novel soon!
If you’ve been following me on Facebook, then you know we’ve also wrapped the filming on my movie SKID, based on my comedy of the same name, the third book in the Occupational Hazards Series. We’re now editing and working to put it all together!
A great place to keep up with all that’s going on with my movies and books is on my new author page on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/ReneGutteridgeAuthor. Please come “like” me!! I’ll do book giveaways, trivia days, give writing tips and more. Hope to see you there.
Back to Moore, this summer has been a very reflective time for me. As many of you know, I live just a mile from Moore, Oklahoma, which was destroyed in the May 20th tornado. It is my town, where I live my life, where my children go to school. It’s been an emotional time for our whole community, as we try to help everyone get back on their feet. I’ve written my account of my family’s and my day when we faced down this monstrous tornado, separated from one another and right in its path. During a harrowing sequence of events, I found my Lord right there with me. Click here to read my story of May 20th, 2013. http://www.renegutteridge.blogspot.com/
